One of the longest-running syndicated TV shows in history running from 1969 to 1992, and one of the most distinctively image-driven programs of all time, Hee Haw ranks with I Love LucyBonanza, and The Carol Burnett Show. The show featured country music performances, comedic skits, and cornfield humor, capturing the essence of rural America. Hee Haw also set new standards for syndicated programs in its time. Telecast on 220 stations and reaching 90 percent of American households, the show offered solid proof that a non-network series could bring in big-time advertisers (Procter & Gamble, S. C. Johnson, etc.) and huge numbers of viewers. From the beginning, the program was taped in Nashville, originally at the CBS affiliate studios and later at Studio A in the Grand Ole Opry House. After 22 seasons and 563 episodes, Hee Haw ended production in 1992, yet it remained on the air for several more seasons in reruns. Today, it remains a beloved icon of vintage Americana.
